Things seem to be looking up for all Android purists in India, as a mysterious new Google device, model number “GX7AS”, has recently been spotted on the Indian certification website BIS. We only know that it is a mobile phone and not much else, but that in itself is great news, since the last smartphone launched by Google in India was the Pixel 4a. It seems to mean a return to the market.
That being said, the GX7AS could easily be the Pixel 6a, which we’re still waiting for and could launch in May. However, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro have already started hitting the rumor mill with all sorts of leaks and most recently a large set of high-quality vanilla and Pro renders. The GX7AS could easily be one of those devices, which, going by past announcement windows, is expected to be unveiled in September or October 2022. Still quite a while.
Speculative renders of Google Pixel 7 Pro
Summarizing what we currently know, the Pixel 7 generation is meant to iterate on the current Pixel 6 design. The 7 Pro is expected to sport a 6.7″ or 6.8″ curved OLED panel, while the Pixel’s flat OLED 7 vanilla would be slightly smaller than that of the Pixel 6 at 6.2 inches.

The camera setups for both devices shouldn’t change drastically in terms of hardware. At least what we know so far. However, what is on the potential upgrade list is a new Tensor chipset. One that should at least replace the current Tensor’s dated Cortex-A76 cores with newer ones. The Titan M2 security chip will also likely make an appearance in some form.

The vanilla Pixel 7 is also expected to get a bigger 5,000mAh battery this time around and potentially a new storage tier of 512GB to join the 128GB and 256GB.
