bluedragon1eye, 20 hours agoAs wise… I’ve owned a smartphone accessories and repair shop for years, located on a crowde… moreNo difference for an Apple user. Lack of technical knowledge lol

J

Galaxy smartphones should be registered to the SmartThings Find network by default to make this service more useful.

Anonymous, Jul 15, 2022I didn’t even know that Samsung also made an AirTag now, but I could have guessedLikewise…
I’ve owned a smartphone accessories and repair shop for years, located in a busy and crowded area in the middle of the city of Melbourne. All the tag holders for Apple AirTag were completely sold out within a few months and not even a single person ever came to ask for this Samsung tag. I only knew this one existed until I read this thread, lol xD

ThunderCrackR, Jul 15, 2022It does not matter, in general, Apple users only know what Apple does. Samsung has this product… moreSamsung’s first IoT smart tag was in 2017. That was a bit of a stretch as it used a narrowband network and GPS tracking, so the battery life was only a week.

Dubsmachine, July 15, 2022I changed my Samsung account details and did not deregister my Smart Tag + from Smartthings… moreIt is possible to unlink it if you no longer have your old phone. I did the same when updating. Here is a guide to reset it:

https://www.samsung.com/ae/support/mobile-devices/how-to-reset-the-samsung-smarttag/

Obviously, if you register new Samsung accounts every time you buy a new phone and forget all about how to recover your old account login details, you’re probably wiped out. But then you are misusing your Samsung account. 🙂

D

I changed my Samsung account details and didn’t deregister my Smart Tag+ from Smartthings beforehand, there was no warning.
Now my Smart tag+ can no longer be used as a way to unlink from a dead account.
Even with the packaging and receipts from the Samsung store, they say they can’t help in any way due to security design.

No more Samsung tags for me after this, there should be a way for Samsung to wipe and reset, especially when I’m 5 minutes away from the official repair center and can get it there.

Anonymous, Jul 15, 2022Samsung isn’t the only one bad here, but I admit that even in my country their support…moreYes, LG had great service here in India (at least in Pune). I broke the screen on my G8x and they replaced it 50% because my warranty was up. and the whole thing took 2 days maximum. They were friendly and made sure to call me and let me know of the one day turnaround as they needed to order the screen. It was a pleasant experience.

Anonymous, Jul 15, 2022I brought a smarttag here in India, just after a month of use it stopped working. I submitted… moreSamsung isn’t the only one bad here, but I admit that even in my country their support sucks, and they even have physical stores (which compared to Apple only exist for storefront and selling products)

Now that I’ve mentioned Apple, their service isn’t sacred either, much better because they’re the only ones in my country that fix their phone themselves, and not like everyone else through some crummy third party (until 5 years ago it was different)

Anyway, Asus comes to my mind when I read your comment, in my country there are two totally separate support teams, the one for computer hardware and the one for smartphones.

From experience, that of the computer is excellent, end of story.

But the smartphone one… oh boy, what you just said about Samsung pales in comparison to the mess Asus is supporting them here.

In short, Zenfone 8 and ROG phone 5 had hardware related issues, Asus here won’t solve for you, if they don’t say it’s “your fault”, then they take the device and play d endless waiting begins.

But poor support again is something a lot of companies have I mean we have to deal with the big IT companies here and if I learn anything from them even as a business customer you you have.

Dell comes to mind as the worst offender, you can already guess why their computers contain so many custom parts, so you foot the big bill for it.

Anyway, as far as smartphone makers go, none of them had good support here, Apple has the best of what’s sold here, but even Apple is bad in my opinion, mostly because they’re the only ones allowed to fix shit.

If anything, LG had good support here, but they’re gone.

As far as computer companies go, Asus has good support, but far at the top are actually all the custom system builders, they have very personal support that really wants to help, maybe that’s why they are so good.

In conclusion, we need more small businesses that make smartphones and put the customer first.

I brought a smarttag here in India, just after a month of use it stopped working. I submitted it to the Samsung service center. Today the 6 month warranty is over, but Samsung couldn’t get a replacement unit all this time. Two months ago, they launched the reimbursement. But delay it until eternity. I already submitted my IDs, copy of bank details two months ago. This saga has completely lifted my confidence in the Samsung brand.
You can google “Samsung water scandal” as well as “exynos 9610 and 9611” scandals. To be frank, Samsung is a fraudulent company as far as I’m concerned.

This is not a beacon, but a function that you have enabled by default in the settings. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy, but I turn it off anyway. Waste of battery life.

[deleted post]Weak to go this route, I love xiaomi (but hate MIUI) but the sad fact is that China as a country has its “cons”.

I think Xiaomi got too lazy though, if the US weren’t so childish we would still have Huawei (it was the Huawei, not the current situation of them in the west)

The current smartphone market is a bit boring now, Apple and Samsu g are doing their usual good stuff but also a lot of bad.

Chinese companies copy and paste each other.

And Motorola and Sony become useless for most of the market (quality devices, but the market cares about cheap Chinese phones)

When it comes to the set of smart beacons, neither Xiaomi nor Samsung were the first, so the very first comment was already nothing more than pouring additional oil into the fire. (GSMArena comments section in brief)

Many brands make tags, the difference is Apple aurtags actually work. No sticky software and good hardware. They simply work!

I’m sorry, but it’s scary and invasive for them to literally track if a device is using this feature

another reason to stay away from scams
