Raspberry Pi Live Stream Camera Sports Microphone for Audio Support

The Raspberry pieCamera support makes it a great reference board for a wide variety of video projects. Such is the case today with this awesome live streaming platform created by Mark Lambiase. Lambiase has built an all-in-one device that can meet its streaming needs without the need for any external components or accessories.

The system is equipped with a camera module and can broadcast in real time on platforms such as YouTube. The housing is also made by Lambiase and protects it from excess light around the lens as well as any passing debris if used outdoors. It’s not waterproof, but it should protect the components inside from excessive wear.

In addition to video streaming support, it has a built-in microphone that can capture audio for live streams. It is one of the best additions to the platform as it allows for a more dynamic flow. Whether you’re gaming or setting up a nature camera, no one can deny the helpful impact of having a microphone thrown into the mix.

As we mentioned before, the project is built around a Raspberry Pi. In this case, Lambiase is using a Raspberry Pi 4B 4GB model, but there’s no reason why you can’t use one. older as a 3B for the project. In addition to the Pi, it has a camera module, a microphone module and is powered by a 12V power supply. The case is 3D printed with STL files available for download on its official website Blog.

The project uses tools accessible from Raspberry Pi OS. According to the project thread shared on Reddit, Lambiase relies on three modules to deliver the live stream, including raspivid, arecord, and ffmpeg. There are other ways to program this rig, but this is a good starting point.

If you want to recreate this Raspberry Pi project, check out the project breakdown on its official blog, Lambiase Light Industries. While the post isn’t exactly a step-by-step guide, it did share plenty of juicing details to get you started. This is just one of the many things Mark Lambiase has created, so be sure to follow him for more cool projects in the future.
