‘Fully Tuned’ Toyota GR Yaris Makes Tokyo Auto Salon Debut


Toyota will reveal a “fully tuned” version of his GR Yaris at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon.

He released a single dark teaser of the Hottest Hatch ahead of the event, which takes place January 14-16, 2022.

The hotter GR Yaris will also be unveiled alongside the GR GT3 concept, a “dedicated racing concept car that incorporates refined knowledge and technology. [Toyota Gazoo Racing] won in the field of motorsport ”.

While Toyota has already followed the GR Yaris with a Rally variant containing more performance gear, an improved version has been spy tested.

The “fully tuned” GR Yaris could wear the GRMN badge.

The prototype spied on at the Nürburgring featured ducks in the front corners and large air vents behind the front wheel arches, as well as glossy black trim on the section of the side sills that flow into the rear fenders.

A larger rear spoiler was also visible, but not a hood scoop. This item appears on the teased vehicle.

We expect more horsepower and torque from the improved GR Yaris over the standard car, which produces 200kW and 370Nm of 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine.

All GR Yaris models are all-wheel drive and feature a six-speed manual transmission.

Toyota could also add to the dynamic capabilities of the GR Yaris by subtracting, say, removing the rear seats, removing insulation, or removing critter comfort to reduce weight.

A report from a Japanese point of sale Car sensor At the end of last year, the hottest GR Yaris could use a 220kW setting of the three-pot turbo that would be shared with the upcoming GR Corolla.

The GR Yaris and GR Yaris Rallye both feature the same engine tuning, although the latter receives a series of additional performance equipment.

This includes Torsen front and rear limited-slip differentials, MacPherson strut multi-link front and rear suspensions, additional front brake ducts and 18-inch BBS forged alloy rims wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Car sensor also reported that the Gazoo Racing lineup will expand to include not only a GR Corolla and a GRMN Yaris, but also two additional GR Supra variants.

The Supra’s turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six would be available with a six-speed manual later this year, while a hotter GRMN Supra with an upgraded version of that engine would appear in 2023.
