Federal government trains 3,000 in hardware and software engineering

In an effort to ensure that young Nigerians are self-employed and providers of solutions, the federal government, through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, has trained more than 3,000 beneficiaries of N-Power on computer hardware and software engineering under N-Tech.

The beneficiaries who have been selected in the States of the geopolitical zone of the Center-North (Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory are currently undergoing training at the Institute of the Public Service of Nigeria (PSIN), Kubwa, Abuja

Human Resources Department CEO of Humanitarian Ministry Mr. Kalgo Yusuf Muazu, speaking to reporters ahead of the end of the training in Abuja yesterday, said laptops and other materials will be distributed to beneficiaries at the end of training.

He also said that the Humanitarian Ministry, under the leadership of Sadiya Umar Farouq as Minister, is working tirelessly to fulfill the mandate given to it by President Muhammadu Buhari to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.

“The program started on Monday, October 11, 2021 with nearly 3,000 beneficiaries from the Center-North, which include the Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi and Abuja. The beneficiaries were fully accommodated at the Vera Gold Hotel, PSIN, Kubwa and received 42,000 N each to cover their transport and food allowances. An additional N15,000 will be given to each of them as a means of transportation to their respective states.

“They were offered free accommodation with air conditioning, water availability, light, security and a good environment.
Two doctors, nurses and drugs were provided, with three admission beds for
beneficiaries.

“Computer hardware trainees will receive work tools and manuals after the training; to sustain and become independent. The software, animation and scriptwriting interns will each receive a laptop computer; take care of themselves at the end of the training.
In conclusion, all beneficiaries will each benefit from a monthly allowance of 10,000 N, from October 2021 for a period of nine months.

The training is one of many administration-led programs “by President Muhammadu Buhari to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty,” he said.

Recipients, who spoke to reporters, took turns congratulating the federal government for hosting a life-changing empowerment training.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Muhammad Maryam, from Niger State, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity offered by the federal government to be a self-employed worker, instructing other beneficiaries to make maximum use of the training for the betterment of society.

“I am happy to have been selected to benefit from the N-Power program under N-Tech, even without connection. This is an opportunity for life and I plan to make the most of it to settle down in life. I hope that other beneficiaries can devote themselves to learning and practicing all that is taught here to be self-employed. I will also advise the federal government to maintain the training; in order to get many young people off the streets, ”she said.

Dominic Vershima of Benue State said the N-Power training equipped him to be recognized among solution providers nationwide.

“I learned a lot about web design, app design, Photoshop among others which now makes me one of the solution providers in the country and I am looking to build a store where I will employ and train others to acquire the right skills, ”he said.

According to Adama Peculiar, Okafor from Anambra State said it would impact the knowledge gained from training other Nigerians to become self-employed.

“With the knowledge gained through the Federal Government’s N-Power training, I am returning to my community to train other Nigerians so that they can be self-employed and also contribute to the development of the country.”

According to one of the computer hardware trainers Christopher Adga, he said the majority of the participants had fully acquired the skills to become better citizens of the country, while urging the participants to improve what they learned.

“Most of the participants really understood what we taught them, they are good to go because we told them that they can start small even from their home and grow their business with dedication and hard work with what they need. ‘they learned from the training.

“We also called on the federal government to create a more advanced training room so that they can compete favorably with their counterparts abroad,” he said.

LEADERSHIP reports that N-Power was established on June 8, 2016 to address youth unemployment issues and help increase social development. It should be remembered that since its inception, it has continued to provide skills to a teeming young population while providing opportunities in the education, agriculture, building and construction and healthcare sectors.
