ten Impressive five-cylinder engine

The 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine under the hood of the 2022 Audi RS3 develops an impressive 401 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, and the power delivery is quite explosive. This helps the RS3 complete the 0-60 mph run in 3.6 seconds and the quarter mile can be completed in around 12 seconds.

The Quattro AWD transmission, mated to the torque-vectoring rear differential and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, also helps pull down the power comfortably. In comparison, the BMW M2 Competition and Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG could do 0-60 MPH in a slightly higher 4 seconds.

9 Completely customizable for an Audi

Unlike the older generation of the RS3, this all-new fourth generation offers plenty of customization and personalization options. We like the three interior color combinations on offer, all of which can be had for free. The eight exterior color schemes and the Audi exclusive special paint are also presented.

Apart from that, the 2022 Audi RS3 comes with several alloy wheel designs and a long list of optional packages. The black optics package makes the ride quite fierce to look at. If you want more technology, features and sporty accents, Audi offers you RS technology and RS design green packages. All of these are also not very expensive.

8 Decently spacious for the segment

Given that the 2022 Audi RS3 is based on the same platform as the Audi A3, the space isn’t going to blow anyone away. However, even with a reasonably low length and wheelbase of the subcompact sports sedan segment, it could accommodate five passengers with adequate comfort.

The front row offers decent legroom and headroom, although the M2 Competition and CLA 45 AMG come out on top. But the rear-seat experience will be much better in the RS3 due to best-in-class headroom of 36.1″ and 35.1″. There are also enough storage spaces inside the cabin.

seven Sporty design turns heads

The exterior design of the 2022 Audi RS3 is a major departure from the bland third generation of the RS3 which was on sale until 2020. The youthful color scheme coupled with numerous exterior design options ensures that the car attracts attention wherever she goes. .

If you get the black optics package, the 2022 Audi RS3 comes with blacked-out side mirrors, grille, air vents and 19-inch alloy wheels. The clean lines of the bodywork and the massive alloy wheels give it the proper stance of a sports sedan. The Matrix LED headlights, the low ground clearance and the beautifully integrated lip spoiler also add to the sportiness.

6 Heavier brakes than the S3

The braking performance of the 2022 Audi RS3 was a cut above the Audi S3 due to the better hardware that came with the former. The RS3 features huge 14.8″ front rotors and 12.2″ rear rotors, all vented. Other braking functions such as ABS, EBD, automated emergency braking and brake assist are also standard.

As a result, the 2022 Audi RS3 could do the 70-0 MPH braking in just under 150 feet, which is better than the S3. Along with that, the 2022 Audi RS3 also topped the charts in the subcompact segment, as the BMW M2 Competition could do the same 70-0 mph braking in a slightly higher 155ft.

5 Poor fuel consumption

Equipped with a powerful five-cylinder turbocharged engine producing a whopping 401 hp, fuel efficiency takes a hit compared to the CLA 45 AMG. This subcompact sport sedan managed to produce 20 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highways, which is equivalent to 23 MPG combined gas mileage.

With a fuel tank capacity of 14.5 gallons, the 2022 RS3 has a highway range of nearly 420 miles. However, the BMW M2 Competition proved to be the least frugal of the lot, with a combined gas mileage of 20 MPG and a highway range of just 343 miles.

4 Has a premium interior

Like the Audi A3, the cabin of the 2022 Audi RS3 is fitted with premium soft-touch materials all around. The dash and door cards get a heavy dose of leather, injection-molded plastics and aluminum accents, enhancing the premium cabin experience.

Sporty green accents such as the steering wheel, high-mounted AC vents and seats also lend a sportier feel to the cabin. The digital gauge cluster and leather-wrapped steering wheel also look great. Along with that, the sports seats with thick side bolsters and the perfect ergonomics add to the comfort factor.

3 MMI infotainment is feature-rich

The 10.1″ MMI touchscreen infotainment system comes with all relevant features such as Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation, subscription Wi-Fi hotspot, voice commands and steering wheel controls. The intuitive interface of this infotainment is another great asset.

While it lacks the hard knobs and buttons like the iDrive infotainment system, the excellent interface more makes up for it. This makes the MMI infotainment one of the most coveted infotainments. The optional Bang & Olufsen sound system is also available with the RS technology package.

2 A long list of safety devices are on board

The 2022 Audi RS3 comes with plenty of driver assistance technologies such as forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist. You can also get a few extra features like traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and adaptive cruise control as part of the option packs.

The car is mostly constructed from high-strength steel and aluminum, and this, along with the long list of standard safety and driver assistance technologies, would help protect the passengers immensely in the event of an accident.

1 Not the most profitable offer

Offered in only one trim configuration and launching at a base selling price of $58,900, the 2022 Audi RS3 isn’t the most profitable proposition in the segment. In comparison, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG is much cheaper and comes with almost similar engine performance.

The CLA 45 AMG also comes standard with most interior and safety features. The optional packages are also slightly cheaper than the RS3. Along with that, the Audi S3 costs around $10,000 less than the RS3 and offers an impressive driving experience. The spacious cabin, sleek design and plenty of standard features also make the S3 a better value proposition than the RS3.
